TANAMI TRACK
CLICK ON A THUMBNAIL TO VIEW FULL SIZE.
- The Tanami track near the Stuart Highway one of the
short stretches of sealed road before the corrugations begin.
- The corrugations on the Tanami track are big enough to shake you to
peices, this section of road was near Rabbit Flat Roadhouse.
- Sunset photos are very hard to get right, but this one has turned out quite
well. This picture was taken where we camped on the Tanami just north of
Rabbit Flat.It was a very clear night with no lights in the area.I spent
many hours watching shooting stars and satellites cross the
sky.
- These next photo's where taken just south of the Granites mine on the
Tanami. They show just how remote you realy are out there.
- These photos where taken right on the border of the Northern Teritory and
Western Australia. You will notice that the road is dead straight for a very
long way.For memory it is approximately 20km's.
- The border sign on the Tanami Track with Rob standing there with the
cruiser.
- Sign on the Western Australian side of the border BEWARE LOOSE SURFACE
DUST AND CORRUGATIONS,to reach this point you have been travelling at least
six hours on the same road.Do they think you may not have noticed !
- Sturt Creek near Billuna on the Tanami.A great spot to camp and an even
better place to have lunch and a cold beer.
- This little puddle was near the northern end of the Tanami and as it is a
good stretch of road we where travelling a little quicker than normal, came a
round the bend and hit the water and about 80 km's.The water splashed up
over the windscreen and over the roof,I could not get to the wipers quick
enough the dirty water blinded us.Was good for a laugh after we stopped and
took a photo of it.There was about 200mm's of water in there.
- These two photos are of Sawpit Gorge near Halls Creek.A very nice
place,Sawpit Gorge that is not Halls Creek.
- Large termite mounds are along the hole length of the Tanami Track and so
are the corrugations.
